An extensive two-month journey circling Australia has been cancelled days after the death of an elderly female passenger who was left behind by the ship on a distant tropical isle.

Suzanne Rees had been trekking on the tropical location with shipmates from the cruise ship, but parted ways from the group for a break. The ship departed without her and came back after some time after the ship staff became aware the lady was unaccounted for.

A major rescue mission found her body the following day.

Authorities are investigating the incident, together with investigators and the state coroner.
